Caring for your Ragdoll’s coat is an important part of your cat’s overall health. While Ragdoll coats rarely mat and are easy to care for there are steps you can take to ensure a healthy glow. Keep in mind that a healthy cat is evident by healthy skin and coat. Your Ragdoll needs a healthy diet to maintain a healthy coat.
A dull and lifeless coat may be a symptom of diabetes, liver, or kidney disorders. It could also indicate allergies to the food you are feeding. Your Ragdoll cat’s coat is an important part of their immune system. The skin kills the majority of bacteria it comes in contact with.
You can head off most infections by regularly grooming your cat and inspecting the skin. Keep the area where your cat sleeps clean and free of dust and insects. Stay aware of your cat’s grooming habits. If your cat is grooming itself excessively it could be an indication of a problem and you should consult your veterinarian.
The best thing you can do for your cat’s health is to feed a premium cat food. Premium cat foods provide balanced nutrition for your cat and are not something you should skimp on. If you have questions as to which premium foods are best for your Ragdoll cat consult your veterinarian.

Do you recommend Leukemia vaccine for Ragdoll cats? I have heard pros and cons about regdolls and Leukemia vaccine.
My cat is shedding alot what can I do?
my rag doll was born 11-2008. I have never given her a bath. I sent her to the groomers because she had gotten matted while I was in the hospital. I lov her because shes mine, but disapointed. I belive I wound-up with a through back. I have had many cats but none like this one. She does not respond to her name. runs from me. I can only pet her when she is half a sleep. Brushing her not so good. Started that a week afer I brought her home . a daily thing with a soft brush.
Her coat is long but sticks out stright. She looks like the bad friz hair comercels. She does like my 16 yr. old male cat. But he pays her no attention. I felt bad for her so I got another cat about 9 mo. older who has personality that just woun’t quit. constantly plays. She has gotten the rag doll to play some what. But the rag doll peters out . and would much rather eat… sleep. she does like to lay on her back a lot.
I call her my chunckey monkey (her name is angel ) I’m the only person in the house. What have I done wrong?? can I fix it?
