Your Ragdoll cat needs to have its nails trimmed about once a month. If you can hear your cat’s nails going across the kitchen floor it’s time for a trimming. Never use a pair of scissors when trimming your Ragdoll cat’s nails. Use cat nail trimmers or even a pair of nail clippers for humans.
Most cats don’t like having their nails trimmed so it best to go slowly. Choose a quiet area of the house like a bathroom where you can shut the door. To expose the nail, press down on the top of each toe and the pad of the paw between your thumb and forefinger. Clip the nail above the pink area. Never clip the pink part of the nail. If you’re uncomfortable clipping his area cut the nail just before the curve.
If you’re uncomfortable trimming your cat’s nails watch your veterinarian or groomer and ask for some tips. The hardest part of trimming nails is getting your cat comfortable and letting you do it. With a little time and patience, you’ll be trimming your Ragdoll cat’s nails like a pro.

We’ve let our older cat grow her nails too long and have curved around and penetrated her pads, leaving some scabbing from bleeding. I was able to trim and removed the point so hopefully will recover well. She is old and very mellow.
What should I swab the sores with? Is hydrogen peroxide ok to use?
