What is it like to live with a Ragdoll cat on a daily basis? Ragdolls are large cats with medium to longhaired coats; this means you’ll have fur everywhere. Be prepared to have a good lint brush on hand. Ragdoll cats have a silky coat that for the most part does not become matted; however, elderly Ragdoll cats can develop knots under their front and back legs. Ragdoll cats should be groomed daily so they will be accustomed to the brush. A thorough grooming should be administered at least twice a week. Ragdoll coats are silky and soft; they tend to look the best during winter months. Coat lengths vary by cat; neutered cats typically have a longer, luxurious look to them.
Ragdoll cats are available in a variety of colors: blue, chocolate, lilac, seal, cream and even red. They have torte points, tabby Points and solid points. These points may come in the mitted, bicolor, and color point varieties. The chocolate and lilac varieties are rare and more difficult to purchase. Ragdolls are long cats. They like to flop down and roll over on their backs. They have long, bushy tails and strong bones; although care should be taken not to shut the long tail in a door. Ragdoll cats have big, bright eyes. Eye color varies from delicate blue to dark sapphire. Ragdolls express their feelings very well, you can almost always tell what they are feeling by the look on their faces. Ragdoll cats are famous for their easy-going temperaments. Ragdolls cats have a gentle, laid back temperament and are the ideal pet that is totally devoted to their owner. Ragdoll kittens are full of life and very inquisitive; care should be taken around the fireplace. (Louie singed all his whiskers off one winter) As they grow, Ragdoll cats become extremely loving and trusting cats that follow their people everywhere. They enjoy human company and do very well around children.
Ragdoll males can grow to be very large cats, some nearing 15 pounds. They have many puppy-dog like attributes that make them endearing. Ragdoll cats respond to their names and will come when they are called. They have a playful nature that comes out with their interactions with other cats and even dogs. What do prospective cat owners get when they purchase a Ragdoll cat? Ragdoll cats truly are the perfect pets. They have wonderful personalities and make excellent companions. Your Ragdoll cat will greet you at the door when you come home, and flop down in front of you for a tummy rub.

We recently had to have our Ragdoll put down. He wasn’t even 3 years old. He had an enlarged heart and a bloodclot on his spine. The vet said this is quite common in the Persian breeds. We miss him terribly and our house seems empty without him.
Ragdolls are such a joy to live with!! Sadly, last year,we too had to put my daughters’ beloved Lynx Point Ragdoll, Martin down due to kidney failure. The vet told us this was quite common in Ragdolls themselves. I don’t know if this is true, but we miss Marty alot, and will never find another precious kitty like him. It is lonely with out him,he was such a wonderful cat. I love all cats in general, but Ragdolls are truly specail!
I bought a ragdoll cat three days ago. I was so excited to bring him home and love on him. I couldn’t wait to have this sweet companion with me following me around the house. Well when I went to pick him up he was huge….not a kitten-kitten. He was 20 weeks old. The picture I was sent and had put a non-refundable deposit on was a much smaller kitten. This cat does not like us at all . He is a ragdoll but so far does not have the temperament like all the articles I have read. I am so disappointed! Do you think this will change? Do you think over time he will get use to us and be like that loving ragdoll I had hoped for? Please help!
I just recently got a Ragdoll kitten that is currently 5 months old from a Breeder and he is exactly what every article says about Ragdoll. He’s loving, energitic, sweet, greets me at the door every time I come back home from work or anywhere, follow me around the house, attacks my feet and hands, loves to lick my feet (toes) and hands, cries out loud if he doesn’t see me when I’m home (especially when I’m in the restroom showering or whenever the door is closed), goes limp when I pick him up, sleeps on his back, roll over when he wants a belly rub, and listens when I call his name. He’s the best. I was planning to get a Maine Coon cat because I love big/large cats, but I accidentally stumble upon a Ragdoll Breeder website and read about Ragdoll and fell inlove with one. The only think I hope for my Ragdoll is that I hope he goes old with me and grow to be over if not close to 20 lbs. LOLz…Hello to all the other Ragdoll parents out there.
please help. My friend has just purchased 2 ragdoll kittens, 1 is for me as a moiving away/ housewarming gift, which is truly kind of her, I had never heard of this breed before and am so excited to be getting her.I have seen pictures of the kittens, and they look adorable with bright blue eyes, but, they are a very dark brown almost black colour, no other markings or colours that i can see, and so far what i have seen surfing the net today, they dont seem to appear to be Ragdolls! I hope I am wrong, can they be born with 1 colouring then change over time?
please reply soon as I dont wnat my friend ripped off!
Regards
Michelle
Time spent with small kitty – will give you a large harvest…
That sweet minutes, that we have with our loved friends – beside any competition! Of course, cat is not a dog, but sometimes he doing amazing things, just to make you happy.
I have had my ragdoll cat for just over 2 years a male called Benson. He is only 7kgs ut still big he is adorable but likes biting feet and hands and sometimes not docile at all. I researched the coat and believe me they do moult a lot I am always covered in white fluff another problem I have had with him it peeing on my beds. He follows me everywhere and is always waiting for me when I get home from work at the door. He sleeps in my bed with me but is definatly not a lap cat perferring to be nearby. He is also always looking for food and a fussy eater. I love him to bits and is very different than any other cat I have had to those who are thinking of buying one I would recommend it but be prepared for a lot of cats hairs everywhere
