Integrating Your Ragdoll Cat Into Your Home

If you have other dogs and cats in your family, it’s important to gradually integrate the little newcomer until they have had their veterinary exam; this is to prevent spreading diseases or parasites to your other pets. Kittens often have ear mites, fleas, and other contagious diseases. Keep your Ragdoll kitten in a separate room for a couple of days. Make sure the kitten has their own bed, food and water and a litter box.

After your veterinarian has given your kitten a clean bill of health you can introduce your new kitten to the family. You can simplify the transition by introducing the new scent to your pets. Rub your kitten with a towel and place it in the sleeping area of your existing cats so they’ll become accustomed to the kitten’s smell. Give your kitten a blanket used by your existing pets for the same reason. After a couple of days place your kitten in the carrier and let your other pets in for an introduction. If there is growling or snarling initially it is okay; this is instinctive behavior and your pets will get over it. In as little time as one week you and your new Ragdoll cat or kitten will be one bigger happy family.
