1. When treating cuts and irritations use herbal remedies such as Aloe, along with calendula cream for treating minor infections.
2. Your cat needs sulfur amino acids, zinc, vitamin B complex, along with fatty acids and minerals to keep a healthy coat and skin. You will find the proper balance in most premium cat foods. If you are concerned about the food you are feeding your Ragdoll cat consult your veterinarian.
3. Ensure you are feeding your cat a healthy diet. Don’t skimp when it comes to cat food; purchase a premium brand of cat food.
4. Your Ragdoll cat needs vitamins A and E also; however vitamin A can lead to toxicity in the liver so you should be extremely careful if you are giving vitamin supplements to your Ragdoll cat.
5. Do not overly groom your cat. Cat’s hate baths and for the most part keep themselves clean. Excessive grooming can dry out your cat’s skin which could lead to rashes.
6. Inspect your cat on a regular basis. Check for fleas, lice, ticks, cuts, open sores, and anything that resembles mange. Consult your veterinarian as needed.
7. Avoid using insecticides or powerful detergent inside your home. Also, try and keep your Ragdoll cat away from direct sunlight if possible.
8. When inspecting your cat’s coat be on the lookout for fungus; this is easy to overlook, any patches of lost fur could point to a fungal infection.
9. Steer clear of dusting powder. If your cat is suffering from lice or fleas use medication from your veterinarian. Many of these treatments are highly toxic and can make your cat sick. Be sure to carefully follow your veterinarian’s instructions.
10. When treating fungal infections pongamia oil works very well. Keeping your cat clean and paying attention to warning signs will go along way to preventing common skin and coat problems.
