Homemade Toys For Your Ragdoll Cat
Feb 13th, 2007 by Rob
Playing with your Ragdoll cat is a fun way to exercise and bond with your cat. Toys don’t have to cost a fortune and there are plenty of things around the house to keep your Ragdoll cat entertained and fit.
You may have seen your cat playing in a paper bag or a cardboard box. Cat toys don’t have to be fancy and even something as simple as a shower curtain ring can provide your Ragdoll hours of enjoyment.
Here are some ideas for homemade toys for your Ragdoll:
• Turn a cardboard box upside down and cut a small hole in one side to provide access for your cat’s paw. Place a catnip mouse inside the box and watch your Ragdoll grab at the mouse.
• Cut an opening on both ends of the cardboard box to create a tunnel for your Ragdoll cat to play in.
• Crumple paper into a ball and throw it into an open box for your cat to play with.
• Plastic rings from a milk jug can provide your cat hours of enjoyment, especially if your cat likes to fetch.
• Tie newspaper to a string and drag it across the floor for your cat to play with.
• Set a large paper bag on its side for your Ragdoll to crawl inside.
• Plastic drinking straws, shower curtain rings, and plastic bottle tops make great soccer toys.

My cats have always loved a medium sized ball of tin foil…they play for hours!
A small hair tie is fun too!!!
a stick with fuzzy material and a jinjle bell glued onto it, my cat loves it!!!
Also, my cat enjoys tissue paper. You can roll it up into a ball and toss it around for a few seconds. My cat loves the sound and will play with it for hours.
Table tennis balls are a great favourite with kittens especially - best on a hard floor where they bounce and move fast, with a lot of clatter. We once had a kittenwhse nickname was Pele due to his extreme skill with the ball.
A jingle bell inside a softdrink bottle also is a great toy
Well.
Scrunch up news paper into a medium sized ball and stuff a long sock half way with it. Tie it closed with some string and drag across the floor, cats love it.
A tennis Ball with a little cut in it, Stuff with catnip (older cats) or for a kitten put a little bell inside or their fav treat.
Put a sock on your hand and play with them and if they bite or scratch will playing it doesn’t hurt, And your still getting the one on one time with your kitty.
For a kitten give them a empty tissue box just cut off the plastic bits and their good to go.
Don’t use tinfoil for any cat toys. They chew off little pieces and swallow them and it will cut up their insides, due to it being sharp metal. My cats love this little pouch i sewed for thim with a piece of scrap fleece and i stuffed it with paper balls and cat nip. They LOVED it! also i took a nice sized box and cut holes in it with a littler hole for them to stick their paws through. They will play with this for hours together!
Get a big ball of wool and a book.
Then undo some of the wool and place the end of the wool in the middle of the front cover of the book. Wrap the wool around the book but if u want your cats toy to be really small only wrap thhe wool around about 15 to 20 times but if u want it to be nice and big wrap it around the book about 40 to 45 times.
And then it can be your pets pet and I call it a Warm Fuzzy.
You will need about 8 little cat bells and some wool.
Cut off about 20cms of wool and thread 4 of your bells on to the wool and tie a knot to make it in to handle for you.
Then cut of another 20cms 4 times and tie it to those 4 bells on to the bells on the handle and then atach bells to the bottom end of the wool thats hanging down and your finished.
A small hair tie isn’t safe for your cat they could choke on it.
But you could use a new pencil because it’s blut at both ends and wont hurt your cat.
small hair ties aren’t safe… i agree… but they also make the big fat ones for people with thick hair and the cloth scrunchies… my ragdoll LOVES to play with these… they give him hours of enjoyment and when I need to put my hair up there is never a hair tie far away
An empty toilet paper roll is a fun toy. My cat loves scrunchies too, except that he tries to pull them out of my hair to play with them!!
Milk bottle ring to fetch? And retrieve? You got to be kidding! That is until one day I tossed a ring across the room for Rosita, our 6 month Seal Bi-Color Ragdoll, to chase. But, she returned it to my feet. OK, we’ll do it again. And again. She will fetch and return for as long as my wife and/or I will take the time with her. We now use baby teething rings which are more durable and will roll further, being heavier.
Our two rags play fetch with a wadded up piece of paper, too. It’s the BEST THING EVER. I’ve also made a toy from an empty paper towel tube by covering the ends with tape and cutting a few small holes in the tube then stuffing some treats inside. The treats make a tempting noise as they rattle around when the cats push or bat the tube. It keeps my Sparrow absorbed for hours, until he manages to shake the last treat free. And dragging anything on a long string is another surefire toy.
Our Ragdoll loves to play with my big blush/powder face (Cosmetic)brush. He carries it everywhere and plays with it on hours. He’ll bring it to me sometimes to toss so he can attack it “on the prowl”
milk rings are a very bad idea!! i gave my Ragdoll one and he ate more then half!! since then i havent given him one.
My cat loves a fake red mouse tied on a string she will jump really high and even do flips to get it, I have tried other colors and similar toys but the red mouse is by far her favorite.
Get a cardboard box and put it upside down.. cut holes alng the sides oon on top (bottom). Some big enough for hi to put his head in and sme big enouh oly for his paw. Place dry food under the box = hours of fun! He will try to get the food out for a long time..
