my ragdoll is just over 2 years old. When we got him, the breeder told us that we were never to give a ragdoll cat the feline leukemia vaccine as it was harmful to this breed. My vet indicated he had never heard of this but
complied and did not give the leukemia vaccine with all his other shots since he will be a 100% indoor cat. We have since moved quite a distance away from our original home to a new location. In the past with my current pet as well as all other pets, I have always had someone come into my home to check on the pets and I never needed to board them. Now in my new location, I do not know anyone well enough to do this and I am scared to death to have to board him anywhere....not only because of what he may catch from other animals but also because I know they do better in a familiar environment when their daily routine of the owner is interrupted. So my question is....in the event I do need to board my little guy, what vaccines does he need to have to ensure he comes back home disease free..?

Hi there~ I also breed and do not give Leukemia.
Before I ever Bred,I had a cat who was tested for this and came back neg. the vet suggested we give the vaccination...know Zip I did...wouldn;t U know I lost my cat to leukemia 10 months later!!!!
So I made the choice long befor breeding never to give this again ever.
I am not sure what U could do other than keep looking for an in home sitter.
I would never give this in order to take them to a boarding house.......He may also get other things there you do not want....ring worm, fleas, herpies ect ect
best wishes on this. :?
