How is your kitten?

I am just in the process of sorting out the tests for HCM on my girls.

Hi are you a breeder or are you just checking to know if they are neg. I would have done it already but I think I will go for the blood sample now and the vet was very busy Mon. so now being that we are so close to the weekend I will wait for this Mon. Thanks for asking she seems fine, which is what we all want right. How many girls do you have and how old are they?

Hi

Yes, I am a breeder but only on a very small scale. I have a mum, Poppy, and I have just kept her daughter, Tottie, from the last litter born in June. I know the father of the kitten is clear of the HCM gene so will get both girls tested in the next week or so. I am not planning any litters until next summer at the earliest anyway. :D

oh that is good being responsible like that, I think I may not test her after all I spoke to the breeder and she said both parents tested neg. so that is good enough for me as she is just my pet.

I would agree with that. If she was going to be bred from then obviously that is different but as a much loved pet and as you have said her breeder has confirmed her parents are clear then just enjoy her! :D

Hi, I've just read this. My 3 year old Tabitha has a bit of the jerky eye movement too. I got her last September and only noticed the nystagmus a few weeks ago. My vet noticed it too. It is only tiny, but I don't think she had it when I got her. Someone said it might be caused by feeding her too much fish, so I am changing her over to chicken as much as possible. I just pray its not something nasty as I love her so much.

Ya I sure hope all is ok. My girl is 1yr old now and her eye still does it but she seems fine, thank God. Sometimes it is just how they are. I did not notice it at the breeders home either it wasn't till I had her for a bit maybe a couple of days or so.

I have never heard of this. If the vet isn't able to find anything, it could be just a mild neurologic thing she was born with. Don't forget to keep your Raggie strictly indoors! :)

Oh for sure all 3 of my girls are indoors only even though I only have the one raggie.
