I need some advice, I got my ragdoll kitten 4 weeks ago it has had diarrhea eversince I got him. I've had him at the vets twice he put him on flagyl it does'nt seem to be helping he's had quite a few accidents which were'nt easy to clean up. The breeder said she would take the kitten home with her for 2 weeks and try and clear it up but I'm afraid it will be to stressful for him. He already runs from me because he probably thinks I'm going to give him that nasty medicine. I don't know what I should do the longer I keep him the more difficult it will be to let him go.

The question is did he have diarrhea at the breeders before he left as if he did then the breeder really shouldn not have let him go. All the stress of moving to his new home and changes in water etc would not have helped.

Have you tried putting him on a very bland diet of cooked white fish with a little boiled rice or cooked chicken with rice - remove all other cat food and just give him this for say 48 hours to see if there is any improvement then gradually reintroduce the kitten food.

Have the vet do a smear of his poo and look at it. It may be a parasite that the meds are not able to treat. Watch for any blood or muscous in his poo as well, as it could be an irritable bowel. You also may want to rethink his food, feed him something gentle on the bowel. If he is on any type of antibiotic, it could be throwing off his intestinal flora. Try giving him some plain yogurt, too. Good luck. :)
