My 13 month old queen was on her third heat when I mated her with one of our boys. They were both virgins and I was so happy when she became pregnant. Yesterday I noticed a foul smelling vaginal discharge, started her on Clavamox 15 ML 1 cc bid. Had her at the vet this morning. Discharge the same small amount, but worse smelling, at least to me. ( can feel kittens kicking). Vet x-rayed her and says there are five kittens all about the same size. We are going on day 54, he gave her a injection on Clavamox and told me to continue the oral Calvamox. Vet thinks there is ether a dead kitten there or a bad vaginal infection. Now my vet is great and many Ragdoll breeders use him in our area.. He wants to wait and do the antibiotics to control the infection long enough to section her and try to save some of the babies, or he said if it is just a vaginal infection it should start to clear up. My concern is for the queen. If she is C Sectioned, what is the chance she could V Back a second litter? Also if we have to go this route on what day would be the earliest safe day to section her? My vet says he has had viable kittens as early as day 55. I think for a Ragdoll that would be a stretch. This is my show girl and yes, I do want her lines. However with this litter, I would rather induce and loose all the kittens and let her heal. I understand her cervix needs to soften for dilation. If I choose to induce her and not try to save kittens. On what day could we do this? I told him I want her alive with an intact uterus, the litter is secondary to me at this point.. She is eating, drinking, using the box fine, no fever, and acting normal. I do not want to loose her or her fertility!
