Feeding Your Ragdoll Cat

Quality, premium cat foods have a balance of the nutrition needed for your cat to be healthy. If you add human foods to your Ragdoll’s diet you can upset the balance provided by your cat food.

Milk should never be used instead of water; milk does not add balance to your cat’s diet, and most cats are actually lactose intolerant. Feeding your cat milk can give your cat diarrhea, which you will have to deal with when it’s time to clean the litter box.

It is also not a good idea to feed your cat raw eggs. Eggs can contribute to a lack of biotin in your Ragdoll’s diet. This deficiency can cause skin and coat problems. It can even stunt your cat’s growth. Feeding your Ragdoll raw fish can also lead to dietary problems. Fish contribute to a lack of thiamine in your cat’s diet. Lack of thiamine can cause weakness, seizures, and a lack of appetite.

Feeding raw meat to your cat can introduce bacteria and parasites that can make your Ragdoll sick. If you feed your cat a quality premium cat food you will not have nutritional deficiencies. Table scraps do not provide the nutrition your cat needs. If you are unsure which premium food to feed your Ragdoll cat consult your veterinarian.
