Cats receive valuable exercise from play. Playing with your Ragdoll cat on a regular basis builds the bond you share and has health benefits for your cat. This is especially true for older cats that may have slipped into inactive lifestyles.
Your Ragdoll cat needs regular exercise just like you do. This exercise burns calories helping to maintain a healthy body weight. Exercise in the form of play also helps release aggression and burns off excess energy in the younger cat, an added benefit for any Ragdoll owner.
Good toys to engage your Ragdoll cat include bell balls, catnip filled toys, and wand toys. If you don’t have a budget for toys household items like paper bags, card board boxes, ping pong balls, and shower curtain rings make excellent toys. All cats love paper bags and cardboard boxes. Your Ragdoll may tire of the same old toys so it is a good idea to rotate the toys you leave out on a regular basis. If your cat has a particular favorite toy leave that one out; however, rotate the others regularly.
It is important to play with your Ragdoll cat every day for a minimum of fifteen minutes. This is necessary for you and your cat to bond, and for your Ragdoll to exercise. If you work this time into your schedule everyday you will find you and Ragdoll cat bonding and growing closer than ever.
